Rule 18 Seminar (Mark Room) - Review

rule_18

Thank you all for making the M242 Fleet One sponsored ISAF Rule 18 seminar (Mark Room) a success! We had great attendance from familiar and not so familiar M242 faces for this free-to-members event held Tuesday night, April 27th at RVYC.

Dave Cramb's condensed Race-Ready presentation (normally $30) simplified the definition of "Mark Room", by far the most common rule referenced on M242 protest forms, to a very attentive audience. Your executive hopes this $300 investment will allow more of our members to spend their evenings in the dining room instead of the protest room after sailing.

ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 can be found under the tab; Rules, Policy & Governance / Class Rules / ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 or bookmarked here.

Watergirl wins 1st Wed race of the season!

watergirlwin

Light, somewhat fluky winds out of the north prevailed for most of the race. The pin appeared favoured for the start, Watergirl chose 1/3 up from the pin and claimed a clean air start with Simply Red windward of her.
Watergirl decided that there was more pressure to the west. They stayed the course through headers that caused others to tack on to port. Maintaining boat speed, they sailed on the edge of the wind to the lay line, then on to port to lay the windward mark. Sailing again to the west down wind paid. Watergirl sailed around the fleet and nabbed out their 1st place finish to start the season.  Wicked ended 2nd and Dark Horse 3rd.

& Martini Shaker season kick off!

martinishaken
The Aprés Martini Shaker was a great hit to kick 2010 Wed Night racing season! The turnout was awesome, the weather was fantastic, and the sunset was amazing!
Martini's were flowing and food was served with the incredible expertise of Paul Martin - the host / organizer of the evening, along with Randy Vogel assuming his regular loved role of DJ.
Thanks so much Paul on behalf of the M242 fleet for a great event!!! and thanks to all the contributed to make the evening a great success!
Cheers Loree
