2025 Martin 242 "45th Anniversary" North American Championships

August 23 to 24, 2025

Vancouver, British Columbia

Co-Hosted by Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and Kitsilano Yacht Club

Competing Boats = 31 to 35
We are already up to 31 committed boats now at the NA’s, with a few yet to contact or hear back from re our polling campaign. We think we might hit 35 boats as a stretch target.
Teams are coming from Los Angeles, Anacortes, Orcas Island, Victoria, Sidney, Nanaimo, Gibsons, Nelson, Vancouver, Port Moody, and possibly Sylvan Lake (Alberta) and Comox.
This will be the biggest turnout since 2007 when we had 36 boats, and reflects the Regional growth of our Class whereby more racing owners are buying 242's as a result of our ongoing Marketing Campaign extolling the virtues (and low cost) of the Martin 242 Class. We also have 30 volunteers in the Pacific Northwest Region, plus another 5 in LA, assisting with all aspects of running a 125-boat organization up and down the Coast.
Motherships
With regard to Motherships, we have already received about 8 requests from large vessel owners and can accomodate them at RVYC from the Wednesday to the Monday of the event. If you need space for your mothership, please contact amennell@fluidinternational.com or 604-218-9058 and state the length, width, depth, and if it is sail or power.
Billeting
With regard to billeting, we have already received requests from multiple teams and have arranged housing at 5 different locations so far. If you need billeting, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 778-968-1713

Boat Storage at the Event
All Vancouver-based competitors will be required to store their boats back on trailers after the Practice Race on Friday and the first day of racing on Saturday. Limited room may be available for boats from False Creek and the North Shore.
Out-of-town boats will be able to also store their boats on their trailers at RVYC as we will be clearing space on the west side of the dock by moving all the Stars to the east side. But if boats are delivered by water from OOT, and will be staying in the water at RVYC, they will be given preferential access to the cranes on Saturday and Sunday mornings to quickly scrub their boat bottoms if they wish.
At least 2 cranes will be operational and possibly 3.
Sponsors
We have lined up quite a few Sponsors for the event and as soon as they are confirmed we will post their information and what they are providing. If anyone wishes to become a sponsor, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 778-968-1713
Racing Area
English Bay, roughly in between RVYC and KYC, depending on wind direction and current. Windward-leewards twice around are contemplated with an offset mark at the windward end, and on occasion a leeward mark that is below the start line.
