New Class Rule Change
SLIGHTLY REVISED - New M242 Class Rule Change:
The IMCA Technical Committee has slightly revised the Rule Change in order to be clear that the Rule is concerned with existing production-level sail cloth and manufacturing processes used for Martin 242 sails, as opposed to sail cloth and processes used by sailmakers in general for other Classes.
3.6.10 Effective September 30, 2025, all sails used by Class members in M242 Class events shall be restricted to existing production-level (as opposed to test-level) sail cloth and manufacturing processes commonly-used for Martin 242 sails specifically until further notice. The Technical Committee is in the process of evaluating new sail designs and construction techniques with regard to cost and longevity in order to determine if it is in the best interest of the Class members to adopt these new proposed designs or construction techniques. Should there be any doubt with regard to whether a sail fits within these guidelines, the Technical Committee shall be consulted in all cases for approval of such sails via your local Measurers.
Wombat at Channel Islands to Marina del Rey race
"For those who might want to try ocean racing in their M242, especially down wind, we are very competitive. Wind ranged from. 5 to 20+ and we crushed it winning the overall by more than 13 minutes. We had hours of surfing broad reaches hitting 11+ knots."
